Today, Tuesday, the Baghdad Municipality clarified the mechanism for issuing residential construction permits electronically, while indicating the goal of this project.
The Technical Undersecretary of the Baghdad Municipality, Ali Hassan, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), followed by “Al-Eqtisad News”: “According to government directions to convert the services provided to citizens to electronic in various sectors and fields, the beginning was with the Baghdad Municipality, which was to apply for building permits.” Through automation in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers through the National Data Center.”
He added: “We were briefed on the procedures taken and the processes of applying for construction permits, starting with the submission of documents by citizens and the type of permit,” indicating that “the first phase will only include residential construction permits of various types, as the Rusafa municipality was chosen as the first start for this project.”
He explained that “the applicant for the construction permit will be provided with a (barcode) through messages received on his personal mobile phone, and he can follow the electronic transaction procedures with the municipality, and after completing the permit procedures, a message will also arrive on the personal number through the (barcode) to alert that the permit has been issued, after which the stage remains.” The last is to provide the applicant with a paper certificate that fulfills all conditions.”
He stated that "Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, in his last meeting with the staff of the Baghdad Municipality, stressed the importance of working to alleviate the suffering of citizens and alleviate them. The most difficult difficulty facing citizens was issuing residential construction permits."
He pointed out that "one of the government's priorities is combating corruption, so this project is considered part of this file."
He stated that “the purpose of converting the services provided to citizens to electronic ones is to reduce the suffering of citizens, ensure transparency of procedures, provide the best services to citizens, and improve the employee’s performance by carrying out his duty as required.”
The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers announced earlier that the National Data Center is ready to launch the system for granting building permits electronically (residential) during the next short period.
