Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, stressed today, Monday, the importance of unity of position to stop the ongoing violations against the Palestinian people.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement, a copy of which was received by Mawazine News, that “Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, received today the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and during the meeting, developments in the situation in the Palestinian territories were discussed.”
According to the statement, the Foreign Minister stressed “the importance of the unity of the Arab and Islamic position, urgent action to stop the escalation, and joint work to stop the continuing violations committed by the occupation authorities against the Palestinian people, which were the main reason for the tension in the situation in the Palestinian territories,” calling for “the necessity of exercising Arab countries play a decisive role in implementing international resolutions that affirm the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.”
He reiterated "the position of the Government of Iraq regarding the current events in Palestine," indicating that "Iraqi diplomatic efforts are being conducted at a high level, with the aim of reaching the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, and preventing any displacement that may affect the Palestinian people, because that will have dire repercussions."
