    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Member of the Parliamentary Security Committee, Representative Hussein Al-Amiri, today, Wednesday (November 1, 2023), outlined the Iraqi vision for dealing with the presence of foreign advisors in some military bases .
Al-Amiri said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “the presence of any military force, whether affiliated with America or the international coalition, in any Iraqi military base is rejected by a decision by the House of Representatives in the fourth session, with the exception of the presence of advisors for the purposes of training and consultation, especially in light of the presence of Western weapons that require Field procedures to deal with it .”
He added, "Evaluating the presence of foreign advisors is subject to the procedures of the Sudanese government, and it can present to the House of Representatives any options for dealing with the file, whether by keeping them or demanding the departure of a part of them, according to security assessments related to the importance of their presence. "
He pointed out that "any decision issued by the Sudanese government regarding the advisors' file depends primarily on the reports of the relevant ministries," pointing out that "the House of Representatives will deal with any position adopted by the government, while stating the necessary reasons. "
He continued, "Iraq does not need any combat presence on its territory, and the matter has been decided by a previous decision, but when it comes to the advisors, the government's position remains on clarifying the importance of their presence or not."
The demand of the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, to close the American embassy in Baghdad, revived talk and discussion about the American presence in Iraqi military bases, and prompted the emergence of new political positions against the foreign presence of all kinds, more than a year after these demands faded.
