    On Monday evening, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani and the US Ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanowski, discussed cooperation between the Central Bank of Iraq and the US Treasury.

    Al-Sudani's office said, in a statement, that the latter "received, this evening, Monday, the Ambassador of the United States of America to Iraq, Alina Romanowski, and during the meeting, bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed, and files of joint cooperation in various fields were discussed."


     
    The meeting witnessed "a discussion of cooperation relations between the Central Bank of Iraq and the US Treasury, as a number of topics will be discussed in the meeting that the two parties will hold next week."

    According to the statement, the meeting touched on “the tragic events taking place in Gaza, and the genocidal crimes it is witnessing targeting innocent civilians by the occupation authorities,” and pointed to “the extent of the serious violations of Palestinian rights and the worsening humanitarian situation.”

    Al-Sudani affirmed "Iraq's firm and principled position on the Palestinian issue," stressing "the necessity of stopping the attacks committed by the occupation forces, opening safe corridors and allowing the entry of food and medical aid to civilians, as well as guaranteeing the rights of the Palestinians to a dignified and secure life."

    He also referred to "Iraq's commitment to protecting diplomatic missions, as well as protecting security advisors within the international coalition mission to combat ISIS," stressing that "the security services are carrying out their legal duties in maintaining security and stability on Iraqi territory."
