Baghdad/Al-Masala Al-Hadath: It is expected that attacks by Iraqi factions against American bases in Iraq will continue in the foreseeable future, according to the events of the past few days, as American forces and the international coalition were subjected to new attacks in the last 48 hours in Iraq and Syria with drones and missiles, according to what was reported. A US military official Thursday.
The attacks coincide with a deep political crisis, resulting from the removal of Iraqi politician Muhammad al-Halbousi from the presidency of the Iraqi parliament, while the Iraqi factions seek to remove American forces from Iraq.
The United States did not think about withdrawing from Iraq after attacks against its bases became unbearable, according to analyses, as it announced more than once that this was unlikely because it would increase Iranian influence in Iraq.
Based on these factors, it is expected that Iraqi faction attacks against US bases in Iraq will continue, and may escalate at times. This could result in casualties or loss of life among US forces, which could lead to further tension between the United States and Iraq.
At dawn on Wednesday, the US military command in the Middle East announced that it had carried out “precision strikes” on two sites in Iraq, in response to repeated attacks against US and coalition forces in Iraq and Syria.
The American raids resulted in the killing of eight fighters.
Yesterday, Wednesday and Thursday morning, drones attacked “American and coalition forces” stationed at a military base at Erbil International Airport in the Kurdistan region of northern Iraq, according to what an American military official said.

He added that the two attacks did not cause “casualties or damage to infrastructure.”
Today, Thursday, several drones were launched at American and coalition forces stationed at the “Ain al-Asad” air base in Anbar, western Iraq, without recording any casualties or damage, according to the American military official.
Also Thursday, “several missiles” targeted a base in eastern Syria where forces from the American army and the international coalition are stationed, without causing any casualties or damage, according to the same source.
In total, Washington has recorded 72 attacks since October 17, according to an updated tally provided by the US military official.
The missile and drone attacks resulted in the injury of about sixty American soldiers, according to the US Department of Defense (Pentagon).
