Today, Thursday (December 21, 2023), the Election Commission announced that the results of the governorate council elections were 100% identical between the electronic counting and the manual counting.
A statement from the Commission received by “Baghdad Today” stated that “the heads of the Board of Commissioners and the Electoral Administration attended the counting and sorting process in the audit centers of the Karkh and Rusafa offices, in the presence of a number of members of the Board of Commissioners, the assistant head of the Electoral Administration for technical affairs, the director of the Operations and Information Technology Department, and his technical assistant on Thursday.”
The head of the council, Judge Omar Ahmed, referred to “the counting and sorting process for the stations that had not yet sent the private voting process and a small number of public voting machines, as the stations on the Karkh and Rusafa sides were counted and sorted.”
On the other hand, the head of the electoral administration, Judge Abbas Al-Fatlawi, also touched on the process, noting that “the counting and sorting shows that the results are 100% identical between electronic and manual for the stations that did not send.”
He pointed to "the manual counting and sorting process in the audit center for the machines that did not send the voting results on the special polling day and very few in the general voting for the elections that took place on December 18, 2023."
