The Prime Minister directs that the celebration square be opened to citizens

Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani directed yesterday, Saturday, to open the celebration square on the Karkh side of Baghdad to the movement of citizens, while the Ministry of Interior denied the presence of any traffic blockages in the streets of Baghdad on the eve of New Year’s celebrations, announcing the preparation of a proactive plan to secure it.
The Prime Minister’s media office stated, in a statement, that “Al-Sudani directed the concerned authorities to open the celebration square on the Karkh side of the city of Baghdad to the movement of citizens, and to keep the gates of the Green Zone open after midnight on New Year’s Eve, on Sunday and Monday of this week, on the occasion of the advent of the new year.” The new one, God Almighty brought it back to all Iraqis with goodness and joy.”
Brigadier General Ziyad Muhareb Al-Qaisi, media director of the Ministry’s General Traffic Directorate, said in a statement to “Al-Sabah”: The traffic plan, which has already entered into force in preparation for New Year’s celebrations, includes a heavy deployment of the directorate’s detachments near the places of celebrations, in addition to their 24-hour presence at public intersections. And the streets to regulate traffic, which is witnessing great momentum due to the large number of revelers on this night.
He called for the need to adhere to traffic safety laws by vehicle drivers, especially the youth segment, and not to drive recklessly as a form of celebration. Rather, celebration must be done in a civilized manner, away from inappropriate forms that reflect a bad reality about the local community
