Former Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi revealed, on Wednesday, the involvement of Iraqi hands in carrying out the assassination of the martyrs Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis and Qassem Soleimani, indicating that the decision to assassinate the leaders of Al-Nasr was planned for a long time.
Abdul Mahdi said in a televised interview followed by “Al-Ma’louma”: “Talk about the Iraqi government’s knowledge of the airport crime is a slander intended as a gesture, as most American leaders are not aware of the criminal operation.”
He added, "History will reveal a lot, especially those involved in the crime and the extent of their cooperation with the American side," suggesting that "there was betrayal by security and political bodies to support the assassination."
He pointed out that "judicial cooperation continues between Iraq and Iran regarding the airport crime file," noting that "the government severed relations with the American side after the assassination."
A treacherous American raid targeted, at dawn on January 3, 2020, the convoy of the Deputy Chairman of the Popular Mobilization Forces, the martyr Commander Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, and the Commander of the Quds Force in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, on the road to Baghdad International Airport, which led to their martyrdom along with a number of their companions on the road.
