    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Representative Yasser Iskandar said today, Wednesday (January 31, 2024), that the coordination framework is proceeding with the governors’ veto decision against renewal, despite its seriousness and political repercussions.
Iskandar explained to "Baghdad Today", "All readings indicate that the formation of local governments will not be easy, but rather complex and carries tensions, especially with the presence of a veto within the coordination framework that pushes towards not renewing any governor, despite their great results in the governorates of Wasit, Karbala, and Basra."
He added, "Not renewing means entering into tensions and perhaps tremors in the governorates of Wasit, Basra, and Karbala, even though the elections in general were not at the required level in terms of participation, but the will of the voter must be respected and the compass of his choices must be supported, especially since the Shiite regions are the most affected by the political crises over the course of 20." Years and there is a lot of evidence, the most prominent of which is poverty and lack of services compared to other regions.”
He pointed out that "part of the deteriorating conditions in the governorates are the previous councils, and we hope that the scenario of intersections and debates that eliminate the glimmer of hope for security, stability and calm that the governorates have experienced in the past months will not be repeated," pointing out that "the formation of governments has not yet begun and the issue will not be easy, but rather very complex." “In light of the political parties’ adherence to their positions.”
