A government source revealed the latest developments in the gas burning issue in Iraq, while 95% of the burned gas is expected to disappear in 2028.
The source said in an interview with Al-Eqtisad News, “The steps taken by the Ministry of Oil, with the continued support of the Prime Minister, have reduced gas burning by about 38%,” suggesting that “gas burning during the current year will decrease to 32%.”
He added, "The phenomenon of gas burning may disappear by 95% in 2028," pointing out that "Iraq has become 4-5 countries in gas burning after it was second only to Russia."
The source (who preferred not to reveal his name) confirmed, “It is important to know that 75% of Iraqi gas reserves are gas associated with oil.”
