Iran: Increase the amount of gas flowing to Iraq next summer

He pointed out that there is an agreement with Iraq to supply it with 40 to 50 million cubic meters of gas per day, announcing that flows of the agreed-upon normal quantities will return after the end of the maintenance period.
He continued, "Recently, Iran carried out annual maintenance operations on the gas pipelines used to export it to Iraq, and there was a decline in flows, but they were not completely interrupted and the flows returned to their previous normal."
Al Sadiq stressed that “Iran always supports Iraq in the energy file, and provides its services, whether through exported gas, as well as directly exporting electricity.”
In July 2023, Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani announced the agreement with Iran to swap Iraqi crude oil for Iranian gas.
According to the Iraqi News Agency, according to the agreement, imported Iranian gas, which operates electric power production stations, will be bartered for Iraqi crude oil and black oil.
Gas imports are necessary for Iraq to meet the increasing demand for electricity during the summer months, which witness very high temperatures in the country, especially in the southern governorates.
