    Baghdad today - Kirkuk
Today, Monday (February 26, 2024), member of the Kirkuk Provincial Council from the Turkmen Front, Ahmed Ramzi, revealed the details of the recent meeting sponsored by Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani of the political forces in the city for the purpose of deciding the formation of the local government and the positions of the provincial council.
Ramzi told "Baghdad Today", "The Turkmen presented a proposal that includes rotating positions, including the position of governor, head of the council, and first deputy governor, so that each component holds the position of governor for a period of one year and 3 months."
He added, "This matter is the only way out of the crisis in Kirkuk and will send a message about the ability of the components of Kirkuk to share power."
Ramzi pointed out, "There are meetings held at the level of members of the Provincial Council from all components, and the current goal is to hold the session in the coming days without voting on any position. Just hold a session and the new council members begin their work."
He stated, "There are meetings at the party leadership level in Baghdad in the presence of the Prime Minister that will be held in the coming days to completely resolve the Kirkuk issue."
Last Wednesday, Al-Sudani met with the political forces forming the Kirkuk Provincial Council, and agreed with the political forces in the province to form a unified management coalition that includes the forces that won the last elections, which paves the way for the formation of the local government, while the coalition will remain under the presidency of Al-Sudani until the file is resolved.
Earlier, he revealed reports about a meeting. The date of the scheduled meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani will be on the third of next March, and the Kurdish, Arab, and Turkmen blocs will present their paper of demands for the purpose of resolving the formation of the new Kirkuk administration.
