The delay in forming the Kirkuk local government weakens its stability

The Turkmen parliamentary bloc called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani to supervise the formation of the Kirkuk local government because its delay weakens the state of stability in Iraq in general and the province in particular.
The head of the Turkmen parliamentary bloc, Arshad Al-Salhi, told Al-Sabah: The delay in forming the Kirkuk local government does not contribute to imposing a state of stability in Iraq in general and the province in particular, noting the presence of almost suspicious intentions that are creating this matter.
He pointed out that the Kirkuk government does not depend on the numerical results of the elections, as we have a special paragraph in the law that states that the election results do not reflect any political or national party, but rather it must be on a consensual and fair basis, noting that so far there has been no repudiation of the law and agreements.
Al-Salhi stated that there will be a meeting on the third of next March, hoping that the Prime Minister will supervise the formation of a Kirkuk administration coalition of political leaders to end the file as soon as possible, pointing out that the problems in forming the Kirkuk local government lie in the fact that all parties are clinging to the position of governor in the governorate. It has undergone demographic change and must be participatory among all components of Kirkuk.
He added that there are signs of agreement that these positions will be held within four years, whether it is the position of governor and his deputy or the head of the council, as it must rotate between the three components and be managed for a period of 16 months.
