    [size=45]The Governor of Wasit, Muhammad Al-Mayahi, received the governor of neighboring Iranian Ilam, Hassan Bahram Nia, who offered congratulations to the new local government, while the two parties discussed ways of cooperation between the two sides, and the Iranian official expressed his desire to open mutual consulates in Wasit and Ilam.[/size]

    [size=45]We welcome Mr. Governor of Ilam and the staff who came with him, and this visit is part of the ongoing communication program between Wasit Governorate and Ilam, given that there are commonalities and daily work at the levels of administration, travelers, services, and many common matters.[/size]
    [size=45]We seek to stimulate and sustain the momentum of trade exchange through the Zurbatiyah port, and to overcome the obstacles facing travelers and merchants on both sides. This meeting will have practical outcomes to organize matters further.[/size]
    [size=45]Hassan Bahram Nia - Governor of Ilam in the press conference:
    We came to Wasit Governorate for two important things. The first thing is to offer congratulations and blessings to the new local government and on the occasion of the renewal of confidence for Mr. Al-Mayahi as Governor of Wasit.[/size]
    [size=45]The second and most important topic is strengthening cooperation between the two countries at the security and economic levels.[/size]
    [size=45]The most important border crossing between Iraq and Iran for the Islamic Republic is the Mehran (Zurbatieh) crossing, through which more than 3.6 million visitors pass between the two countries during one year.[/size]
    [size=45]We focus a lot on this port, which has many characteristics, the most prominent of which is that it is the most organized, stable and closest port between Iraq and Iran.[/size]
    [size=45]We seek to further enhance trade exchange by establishing an industrial zone between the two countries, establishing a free trade exchange area, and opening two consulates in Wasit and Ilam.[/size]
