128 million stickers within the drug pricing project

The Ministry of Health has installed 128 million price stickers as part of the drug pricing project, while it hopes that the health situation will improve during the next stage.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry, Dr. Khamis Al-Saad, told Al-Sabah: The drug pricing project is very important and has been absent from the country for years. The Ministry has begun a promising project to register medicine, pointing out that 128 million pricing stickers have been installed for many medicines distributed among pharmacies, and it is still continuing to price other medicines.
He noted that the issue of drug pricing needs more time, and the Ministry and the Pharmacists Syndicate, which is part of this project, are able to finalize pricing for the sake of drug security, as it is important to the Ministry. He expressed his regret for the lack of commitment of some pharmacies to this project.
Al-Saad pointed out that there are supervisory bodies, specifically the Inspection Department and the departments in the health departments, that conduct field visits to pharmacies, promising to implement penalties that may amount to closure and referral to the courts for violating pharmacies.
He is optimistic about the improvement of the health situation during the next stage, despite the great challenges facing it, such as financing and dilapidated institutions for many years. However, the current stage has witnessed the opening of hospitals and primary health care centers in Baghdad and the governorates.
