Member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Representative Mudar Al-Karawi, confirmed today, Thursday, that completing taxes and customs is a red line.
Al-Karawi told Al-Maalouma, “Automation in state agencies can maximize non-oil revenues, which can reach 20% if implemented correctly.”
He expressed his support for "these technologies that help activate non-governmental revenues, calling on the Ministry of Interior to implement automation in taxes and customs."
He stated, "Automation is an absolute necessity and we do not allow its project to be disrupted, as automating all border crossings is a strategic national choice that will eliminate corruption and give flexibility in implementing state programs."
He stressed, "There are efforts to expand the tax base and diversify its sources, but according to paths that do not lead to increased pressure on citizens."
He continued, "Taxes and fees are not levied except by law and are not exempted except by law. We will review all exemptions and the extent of the benefit sought or achieved from them."
He pointed out, “The Finance Committee will submit a detailed report to be presented in the House of Representatives regarding taxes and customs to support the government in implementing the automation system.” Ended 25 F
