Today, Sunday (March 24, 2024), the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee ruled out violating the truce between the Iraqi armed factions and the Americans, while referring to the contents of the visit of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani to Washington at this time.
On (February 25, 2024), security expert Muhammad Al-Basri revealed the existence of what he called an undeclared truce between the armed factions and the Americans under the auspices of the Sudanese government .
Al-Basri said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “the government and other parties with relations sought a truce, and the Americans strongly sought to negotiate and request a truce, even if undeclared,” pointing out that “the factions’ trust in the Sudanese helped in obtaining the truce in order to allow "The opportunity to implement the Prime Minister's program by removing international forces from Iraq, including the American ones."

Member of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, MP  Yasser Iskandar Watut , said in an interview with “Baghdad Today,” that “the recent agreement between Baghdad and Washington on the schedule for removing American forces resulted in the formation of a higher committee headed by the Chief of Staff of the Army in order to prepare paths in this direction.”
He pointed out that "the entry of these forces came by a government decision, and their exit will take the same context, and everyone agreed to give the Sudanese government sufficient time to pursue this national option."
He added, "There is a truce between the Iraqi factions and Washington, and any violation of it will turn the entire situation into another complicated situation," adding, "But according to our reading, we rule out that this will happen with the Sudanese visit to America in the middle of next month, because it is an important part of its provisions and will focus on the contents of removing the forces." And scheduling the withdrawal according to a clear and fixed vision.”
    Sudanese visit to Washington
He explained, "It is not in the interest of any Iraqi party, whether political or unnamed, to launch any attacks that violate the truce with the Sudanese visit to Washington, because the country needs calm and to overcome bad service and economic backlogs."
A member of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee continued, "The general situation requires options that lead to greater stability given the exceptional circumstances of the region and the necessity of keeping it away from any conflicts that lead to making Baghdad an arena for settling scores, in addition to the fact that confusing the scene will harm the economy and markets, and this is what no party wants." "It will push the government to take measures to protect society and the general situation."
