The leader of the Al-Fatah Alliance, Ali Al-Fatlawi, confirmed that there are Shiite blocs in the political process that do not want to remove the American forces.
Al-Fatlawi said, in a televised interview followed by Mawazine News, that “the Iraqi people stand on two paths, the first with the removal of American forces and the other with the retention of American and foreign forces, stressing that there are Shiite blocs that violated convention and worked to keep foreign forces.”
He added, "There are Sunni political blocs that stand next to the Shiite blocs that want to remove foreign forces from Iraq, indicating that the Kurds are firm on keeping American forces in Iraq, and no Kurdish political bloc or party has joined us in the issue of removing the Americans."
He pointed out that "Iraq will not stabilize politically or economically until foreign forces are removed from its territory, pointing out that Al-Sudani's visit to Washington must include the file of ending the foreign presence and not returning to this file at all in order to preserve Iraq's security."
