Baghdad/Al-Masala Al-Hadath - Monitoring: Today, officials are talking about Iraq’s need for electrical energy, which amounts to 40,000 megawatts, while officials from the electricity sector stated that Iraq’s production today has reached about 26,000 megawatts, and the real and actual supply is much less than that, which means There is a shortage of about 20 thousand megawatts.
     Calculate actual energy requirement
By simple calculation, the need of one citizen is 1 kilowatt, and the population of Iraq today is about 45 million people, which makes the need about 45 million watts, divided by 1000 to get the need is 45 thousand megawatts. This amount is not enough and does not cover due to road losses, heat, step-up and step-down transformers, waste and network overruns, so we actually need 50 thousand megawatts.
    Challenges of operating stations
The 50,000 megawatts is not enough and does not cover the actual need either, because the plants cannot be operated at 100% of their capacity because that puts a huge burden on the turbines, so they are operated at 80% of their capacity, which means that we will need 60,000 megawatts.

Impact of poor fuel and new housing units

The 60,000 megawatts are also not covered due to the poor fuel and the construction of new housing units, as every 100,000 housing units need 10,000 megawatts, so we need 70,000 megawatts.

    Future energy need

The 70 thousand megawatts are not enough and do not cover the need as well, if we start operating factories and plants that require a lot of energy, so we actually need 80 thousand megawatts. And this is Iraq's need for the next 5 years.

    Additional challenges

And so on, which is the truth and the actual need. The question here is: How much time and years do we need to fill the electrical energy deficit? How much money will we need to implement these stations? Are there strategic government plans to achieve all of this?

    Transportation and distribution problems

This is only with regard to production, and as everyone knows there are problems in transportation and distribution, and these also require additional financial budgets. And let's not forget the problems of collection, of course, and that's another story.

    Conclusion

The issue is not as easy as they say, but rather requires tremendous efforts, a true and sincere will, and high efficiency and professionalism in managing the file, in addition, of course, to a very high level of integrity.
