    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani warned, today, Thursday (August 1, 2024), of the danger of underestimating the sovereignty of states and the necessity of respecting it.
The Prime Minister's Office said in a statement received by "Baghdad Today" that "Al-Sudani received, today, Thursday, the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Iraq, Ahmed Al-Ruwaidi," indicating that "Al-Sudani, through the ambassador, offered his condolences to the Palestinian Authority and the Palestinian people in general, for the martyrdom of the head of the political bureau of the Hamas movement, Ismail Haniyeh, in a treacherous Zionist aggression that targeted the martyr's residence in the Iranian capital, Tehran."
Al-Sudani referred, according to the statement, to "the late man's jihadist history and his positions against the occupation, which were crowned with martyrdom, joining all those who the Palestinian people have presented and continue to present, on the path to achieving freedom and affirming the right to the land and history," renewing "Iraq's firm and principled position towards this right, based on the bonds of humanity, blood and religion."
The Prime Minister expressed his "strong condemnation of the criminal act, which aims to spread conflict in the region and threaten regional and international peace," stressing "the seriousness of underestimating the sovereignty of states and the necessity of respecting it, and that Iraq has demanded, and continues to demand, that the UN Security Council, UN organizations, and major countries take responsible steps to stop the actions of the entity and stop the genocide against the struggling Palestinian people."
