    Kurdistan Democratic Party member, Wafaa Muhammad Karim, commented on the crisis of employees' salaries in the region today, Monday (August 26, 2024), while confirming that the central government had handed over everything and that nothing remained in the region except the "mountains of Kurdistan."
    Mohammed Karim told Baghdad Today, "The solution is simple. If the Minister of Finance, Taif Sami, says that there is an increase in the number of employees by 15,000 employees, and there are duplicate names, then she must cut salaries for that increase, and send salaries to more than a million beneficiaries in the region."
    He added, "The issue has become a political trade-off and a clear targeting of the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the regional government. We have given them everything, and all that remains is to give them the mountains of Kurdistan. If they want a solution, it is simple, but the Minister of Finance wants to complicate matters and manipulate the feelings of employees."
    A Kurdish source reported today, Monday, August 26, 2024, that the Federal Ministry of Finance paid the salaries of last July and this August to the security services in the Kurdistan Region, under the direction of Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani.
    Employees and retirees in the Kurdistan Region are suffering from severe economic problems as a result of the delay in disbursing their salaries for about 10 years. On this basis, the Federal Supreme Court made a decision to localize the salaries of the region’s employees and retirees with Baghdad. However, the decision was met with the Erbil government’s refusal to provide all the necessary information and the actual numbers of its employees to the federal banks in Baghdad, which prompted the latter to not send the salaries of the region’s employees .
    Duplicate names and “alien” remain the biggest problem that hinders the disbursement of salaries for security forces in the region and even the civilian ones.
