    Alsumaria News - Politics

The leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Mahmoud Khoshnaw, confirmed today, Tuesday, September 3, 2024, that Turkey has succeeded in making Iraq suffer from water poverty, while indicating that there are internal Iraqi parties that are in harmony with the Turkish agenda.

Khoshnaw said in a televised interview followed by Sumaria News, "The border crisis in Iraq is not new. It has existed with the Iranian side for decades, while the problem with the Turkish side has been with them since the eighties of the last century. Also, the Iraqi governments, past and present, have not reached a zero point with them."

He added, "We believe that Turkey is not serious about resolving the issue with Iraq or the PKK as it did with Iran, where it built a separation wall and installed thermal cameras and watchtowers that prevented anyone from infiltrating."

He continued, that Turkey succeeded in making Iraq suffer from water poverty, and used this card in addition to the PKK card, exploiting the weakness of the existing governments, with the presence of internal Iraqi parties that are in harmony with the Turkish agenda, which weakened the Iraqi decision, noting that Articles Seven and Eight of the Iraqi Constitution prohibit the use of Iraqi territory for aggression against neighboring countries.

He stressed that our position is to reject any aggression or interference in Iraqi affairs, whether from Iran, Turkey, America or others, and in the event of the presence of any groups hostile to Iran or other countries, they are required to address the Iraqi government, and to have broader relations and better options away from the military option.

As for the issue of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, he explains, "Its solution cannot be through a ban, because it will not lead to a solution to the problem, considering that the Turkish problem was transferred to Iraqi territory, and was exploited to implement an expansionist agenda. The solution to the crisis is achieved through peaceful dialogue with Iraqi mediation, but the rest of the solutions will not be useful."
