    On Monday, a member of the Parliamentary Transport and Communications Committee, Zuhair Al-Fatlawi, described the meals prepared on board Iraqi Airways flights as one of the corruption files that “destroyed” the company, calling on the Prime Minister to intervene in this file.
    Al-Fatlawi said, "There is a deterioration in the conditions of Baghdad International Airport, which was built in the sixties of the last century, and the same is true for the green bird (Iraqi Airways), which used to reach most of the world's airports, including Heathrow Airport in London, but the lack of professional management to run the airport caused many problems."
    He added, "The Baghdad Gate Company, which is responsible for the airline's catering contract, ended in January 2024. This company does not have a headquarters or office in Baghdad or anywhere else, but rather uses the halls and kitchen of Baghdad Airport to prepare meals."
    He stressed that "the company provides two cold meals per flight at a price of seven dollars, and another hot meal at a price of 12 dollars," explaining that "the two meals are below the required standard, and the Prime Minister must intervene and open the food file, which is considered important and one of the corruption files that destroyed the most dangerous bird."
    Baghdad International Airport suffers from several problems in various fields, which prompted Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani to assign Minister of Construction and Housing, Benkin Rikani, to manage the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority.
