A statement by the committee received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "the Market Forces Committee, which was formed by the Prime Minister by a Diwani order, and which consists of the Association of Private Banks, the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, the Iraqi-Turkish Business Council, and the Iraqi Contractors Union, held a joint forum between the two countries, and the committee hosted the Prime Minister's Financial Advisor, Dr. Mazhar Muhammad Salih."
He added that "the committee recommended developing economic relations with Turkey, by holding a joint Iraqi-Turkish forum under the auspices of the Prime Minister in Baghdad on the sidelines of the visit of the Turkish Minister of Trade to Baghdad scheduled for next November."
The committee focused, according to the statement, on "working to support the establishment of the International Development Road in a way that contributes to achieving a qualitative leap in international transportation, industry, and the contribution of the private sector and making Iraq a strategic passage between the countries of Asia and Europe." The
committee pointed out, according to the statement, to "the importance of solving the problems of the Iraqi and Turkish private sectors, related to financial transfers, customs, entry visas, and others, in a way that contributes to developing economic relations, stressing the committee's openness to all Iraqi and Turkish market forces."
Earlier, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani directed the formation of an Iraqi-Turkish committee to organize trade and strategic partnership between the two countries and support Iraqi traders’ imports in dinars, and open a direct dialogue on the subject of (the equal deal) through direct negotiations with the Turkish Exporters Union and the Turkish Central Bank in coordination with the Central Bank of Iraq due to the high desire of the Turkish side to pay in local currency, to finance part of the four baskets supporting prices (food, medicine, construction, spare parts) which the Prime Minister proposed in his policy defending price stability in Iraq.[/size]
