    Retired Brigadier General Ayyad Al-Tufan, an expert in military affairs, commented today, Saturday (October 19, 2024), on Iraq’s success in preventing its bombing by Israel through its relations with the United States of America.
    Al-Tufan told Baghdad Today that "the Iraqi government has made a tremendous effort during the past period on the diplomatic level, both internally and externally," indicating that "internally, it has asked all the poles of the political process to mediate with the armed factions that are trying to target Israel and involve Iraq in a destructive war in which it is the weak party."
    Al-Tufan added, "The government exerted intense pressure externally towards the American ambassador in Baghdad in order to prevent any Israeli strike in exchange for her work to prevent the factions from targeting Israel or American interests and goals."
    He explained that "the American position is clear that it cannot respond to or prevent Israel from carrying out any strikes on Iraq because of the factions' operations, especially in light of the Iraqi government's lack of control over the movements of those factions," adding: "The Israeli strike is very likely and may happen at any time and place during the next stage, and everyone knows this, as the Israeli strike on Iraq is coming inevitably."
    A source close to the Iraqi factions revealed on Monday (October 14, 2024) what he called the "weapon icon" that has not yet been used in the confrontations on the Lebanese scene.
    The source added in a statement to Baghdad Today, "The martyrdom act is among the tools of the battle that are determined by the field conditions," noting that "this icon will constitute an important turning point in the battle, especially since it has a great impact in inflicting losses on the ranks of the enemies."
    He stressed that "this principle is ready and will be adopted as soon as we get the green light to proceed with its implementation," stressing that "defending the land and confronting enemies requires more sacrifices, especially with the support, funding, weapons, technology and information from Western countries, led by Washington."
    The source pointed out that "the resistance factions are preparing for many surprises on the battlefield, especially since they have begun to expand little by little, but the enemy has not been able to achieve any of its goals and is still stuck in the border villages and towns in southern Lebanon."
    It is noteworthy that a source close to the Iraqi factions revealed on Tuesday (October 8, 2024) that there are volunteers from 12 countries ready to engage in the battle of Lebanon.
    The source told Baghdad Today, "The Lebanese resistance thwarted six Zionist attempts to penetrate the southern strip areas during the past few days, with the entity announcing the readiness of 4-5 teams to launch a large-scale operation to invade the southern areas."
    He added, "In the event of an invasion, the picture will be radically different, and volunteers from 12 countries, including Iraq, will rush to support the Lebanese resistance in its battle with the occupying entity."
    He pointed out that "the resistance factions have developed several scenarios in order to support the Lebanese front, which will be decisive and important in determining the fate of the entire Middle East," stressing that "the battle will not stop at preventing a ground invasion, but will continue to target all countries that directly finance and support the entity."
