The defense ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) on Saturday called on Iran to stop supporting the Palestinian Hamas movement, its allies Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthis in Yemen.
The ministers said in a joint statement after their meeting in Naples that the G7 "calls on Iran to refrain from providing support to Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis and other non-state actors, and to take any further action that could destabilize the region and lead to an uncontrollable escalation."
On Ukraine, the defense ministers of the G7 reiterated their "unwavering" support for Kiev, including on the military level.
"We reaffirm our firm support for the freedom, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as long as necessary," they said.
"We affirm our determination to continue to provide assistance to Ukraine, including military assistance in the short and long term," they added. They
also said they supported "Ukraine's irreversible path towards integration into the euro and the Atlantic area, including NATO membership."
Italy chairs the group this year, and the group also includes the United States, Canada, Britain, France, Germany and Japan.
Representatives of the European Union, NATO and the Ukrainian defence minister joined the talks in Naples.
