Education: No double shifts in schools within 5 years

The Ministry of Education confirmed that the problem of double and triple shift schools in the country will be solved within the next five years, which will convert the majority of them to single shift.
The Director General of Baghdad Karkh II Education, Dr. Qais Al-Kalabi, said in a special statement to "Al-Sabah": The new schools that were put into service during the current year are part of the Chinese loan projects, and the Ministry's Project No. 1, in addition to Baghdad Governorate's projects for school buildings, and other parties implementing projects to support the educational process, which contributed to solving a large part of the school attendance crisis in the country's schools.
He indicated that the number of schools that were actually put into service within the Karkh II Education Directorate during the current year is 40 new construction schools, and work is underway to put other new schools into service that will be completed soon in coordination with the relevant authorities.
Al-Kalabi indicated that these schools solved the double and triple shift crisis, as they were opened and some schools that were integrated with other schools in the infrastructure were converted into single schools and the student congestion in those schools was resolved.
He noted that the increasing pace of completion of school building projects and if the rates of their implementation remain increasing and rapid, the crisis of double and triple school shifts could be resolved within the next five years and single shifts would be in most of the country’s schools, as there is a breakthrough in this problem that most schools in Baghdad and the governorates have suffered from during the past years.
