The Ministry of Electricity announced today, Saturday, that the supply decreased from 27 thousand megawatts to 17 megawatts throughout Iraq.
The ministry's spokesman, Ahmed Al-Abadi, said during a televised interview, followed by "Mawazine News", that "after the supply of electrical energy to citizens was 27 thousand megawatts today, the production became 17 thousand megawatts due to the lack of fuel." He
added, "We acknowledge the decline in supply and that it was not like previous years for reasons presented to the parliamentary oil and gas committee and the parliamentary electricity committee as well as on the ministry's websites.
" Al-Abadi pointed out that "10 thousand megawatts are out of service due to the lack of fuel and the loss of 25 million of imported gas daily, which led to the shutdown of gas stations such as Bismayah, Al-Sadr gas stations, Al-Mansouriyah, Al-Taji and Al-Rasheed."
He added, "The Ministry of Electricity bore this damage with Iranian gas and the decrease in its releases to Iraq, and there is temporary damage by turning off the national gas to the southern region, which is Rumaila, Al-Najibiyah and Khor Al-Zubair due to maintenance work."
Al-Abadi noted that "the type of fuel is another crisis facing the electricity system."
