MP Haider Al-Mutairi identified, on Monday, the negatives of the single-basket principle in presenting laws in the House of Representatives.
Al-Mutairi said in an interview with Al-Maalouma, "Large segments of the Iraqi people have been waiting impatiently for the enactment of laws that secure their rights for years, stressing that any delay will harm many, and this is what we must pay attention to."
He added, "Linking laws according to the principle of one basket in the House of Representatives is incorrect, and the evidence is what happened yesterday, when the vote on amending the Personal Status Law and the Service and Retirement Law for the Mujahideen of the Popular Mobilization Authority was postponed due to the objection to the law on returning properties to their owners."
He pointed out that "the laws must be presented away from the principle of one basket and their paths must be taken to the vote, especially since they are complete and awaiting the vote to decide them."
It is noteworthy that the House of Representatives decided yesterday to postpone voting on several important laws, most notably service and retirement for the Popular Mobilization Forces fighters. End 25 F
