Former MP Fares Al-Fares, a leader in the Azm Alliance, confirmed on Monday that the dismissed Speaker of Parliament failed to amend the parliament’s internal regulations.
Al-Fares said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, "Despite the long time given to the Sunni political forces to reach an agreement to support a specific figure for the position of Parliament Speaker, this did not happen, but rather the scene became more complicated than expected."
He added that "the commitment of all political forces to the constitutional contexts and the internal regulations of the House of Representatives has become the only way to end the crisis."
Al-Fares pointed out that "it has become imperative for the political blocs to set a date for holding a session to elect a new parliament speaker and vote on the previous candidates to choose one of them from the national space."
Political forces announced that they would not attend any session of the House of Representatives until a session was held to elect a new Speaker of the House of Representatives. End / 25m
