China bans long beards and veils in Xinjiang

It imposed China new restrictions in Xinjiang province in the far west of the country in the context of what it described as Beijing campaign against extremism.
The measures included preventing the launch of beards "non-natural" and to wear the veil in public places and to punish those who refuse to watch the official television.
The Xinjiang region is home minority Uighurs, mostly Muslims, who say they face racial discrimination.
China allocates $ 300 for those who reported a bearded young man or woman wearing a veil
A number of bloody clashes in the region incidents have occurred in recent years, the Chinese government has blamed the violence on the Islamists and separatist militants.
But human rights groups say, the disorder is often a reaction to the repressive policies, and new measures may be paid at the end of some Uighurs to extremism.
Authorities imposed earlier restrictions similar in the region, but the new procedures become legally effective as of this week.
