Tuz Khurmatu Arab Chieftain urges Peshmerga to stop “Hashd’s Violence”

He accuses the Shi’ite militias of killing civilians

Tuz Khurmatu (BasNews) The leader of the Arab tribes in the disputed Tuz Khurmatu (Kirkuk province) called on Kurdistan Region Peshmerga as well as coalition forces to confront the “violations” by the Shi’ite Hashd militias against the civilians in the town.

Militias from the Popular Mobilization Forces or Hashd al-Shaabi have recommenced their “violent actions such as killing and abducting the Arab civilians and storming their houses,” Sheikh Sa’ir al-Bayati told BasNews on Monday.

He added that the militias abduct not only Arabs but also Sunni Turkmen and Kurds in Tuz Khurmatu and free them for a big ransom.

The Arab chieftain pointed the finger at the security agencies in the town, “especially the police forces who act as bystanders to these behaviors by Hashd militias rather than confronting them.”

Bayati urged the Peshmerga and coalition forces “to head to Tuz Khurmatu immediately, in order to protect the lives and wealth of the citizens,” and hoped for the Shi’ite militias to be expelled from his town.
