Iraq's oil minister, Jabbar al-Luaibi, said Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait were seeking to raise oil prices to $ 60 a barrel.
"The reason for this is to push the economies of the three countries and stimulate the production of more shale oil," he said, adding that, according to the newspaper, their support for the reduction of oil production during the next month.
Al-Luaibi pointed out that US oil shale is more affected by the rise and fall in energy prices compared to other types of energy.
According to the information, Kuwait needs to raise its oil prices to improve its economy. Iraq also needs to raise its oil prices to obtain more revenues and compensate for the effects of political violence in his country.
The newspaper said that Saudi Arabia plans to put 5% of the shares of state-owned oil company Aramco; for public subscription; therefore, aims to raise the price of a barrel.
OPEC officials said that "everyone can live with the level of $ 60 a barrel," according to the newspaper.
The officials said, according to "the country" that this level will encourage investment in energy and increased production, except for US oil shale producers.
OPEC members agreed last November to cut oil production to 1.2 million bpd.
Kuwait's oil minister said in March that the commitment of the OPEC countries to the agreement to reduce oil production reached 140% in February, while between 50 and 60% of the commitment of non-OPEC producers.
OPEC members decided to extend the oil production cut to six months after meeting in May in Vienna, Austria.
