    Iraq expects to produce 500,000 tons of wheat in Nineveh province in the 2018 season, a local official said on Wednesday.
    "Nineveh is expected to plant 2.2 million dunums of land with wheat," Duraid Hekmat, director of agriculture in the province, told Reuters.
    Nineveh province was the highest in agricultural productivity before the advent of the terrorist "Da'ash", producing about 1.5 million tons of wheat annually, equivalent to 21 percent of the total Iraqi wheat production and 32 percent of barley production.
    There are no official figures for the production of agricultural Nineveh during the control of "Da'ash" terrorist government inability to access the cultivated land at the time.
    Further availability of the province's production is expected to reduce Iraq's need for imports.
