    [ltr]The League of Arab States announced its decision to convene an emergency meeting to discuss the latest "crimes of Israeli occupation" against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.[/ltr]
    [ltr]The Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine Affairs at the League of Arab States, Said Abu Ali, said that the Council will hold an emergency meeting at the level of permanent delegates, on Tuesday, at an extraordinary session chaired by Saudi Arabia.[/ltr]
    [ltr]Abu Ali said in a statement today that "the meeting will discuss the crimes of Israel, the occupying power, against peaceful demonstrators who went out last Friday in a march entitled" Great March of Return "on the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of the Earth Day.[/ltr]
    [ltr]He added that the Arab League is following closely these developments, "the latest Israeli massacre committed against peaceful demonstrators on the Gaza Strip border," which killed 17 people and wounded more than 1500.[/ltr]
    [ltr]The Assistant Secretary-General stressed the need for the entire international community and all its institutions to take full responsibility for putting an immediate end to these "Israeli crimes" and to establish an urgent commission of inquiry to question Israel and provide international protection to the Palestinian people.[/ltr]
