    BAGHDAD / Former oil minister Hussain al-Shahristani revealed on Friday the granting of a new round of licenses for an oil company put Iraq on its black list.
    Shahristani said in a statement received by "Iraq News", that "the Ministry of Oil held a new round of licenses for a number of fields and exploratory docking on Thursday, April 26, 2018," noting that "a round of licenses before the legislative elections by two weeks raises some questions, In a time that allows the Council of Ministers sufficient time to study and discuss it before it is approved. "
    He explained that "service contracts conducted by the ministry previously proved that it was the best for Iraq, despite the criticism of some politicians and non-specialists," noting that "these contracts were reviewed by Iraqi experts and foreign consultants and recommended that these contracts have achieved Iraq's best benefit, which made the ministry stick And followed suit in the new licensing round. "
    Shahristani pointed out that "one of the winning companies in this round was blacklisted to conclude a production sharing contract with the Kurdistan region, without the consent of the federal government should be obliged to cancel that contract unfair to Iraq before concluding any contract with them."
    He concluded by saying: "We hope that these licensing rounds will contribute to the acceleration of the development of the oil and gas industry in Iraq, which is the basis for the advancement of the national economy and provide the funding required for the ages and development."
