Jafar al-Moussawi, a spokesman for the leader of the Sadrist movement Moqtada al-Sadr, the date of the first session of the new parliament.
Moussawi said in a statement on Saturday that "the convening of the first session of the new parliament depends on the decision of the Electoral Commission for all appeals and complaints, and the results to the Federal Court."
"In accordance with Article 54 of the Constitution, the President of the Republic calls the new Council of Representatives to convene by a presidential decree."
He explained that "the date of the first meeting will be within 15 days from the date of ratification of the election results by the Federal Court, headed by the oldest member."
The House of Representatives announced Saturday the end of its legislative work for the current session.
