The leader of the Sadrist movement Muqtada al-Sadr congratulated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, winning the last election.
The Turkish news agency reported that Sadr congratulated Erdogan in a telephone conversation between them on Monday.
During the phone call, she stressed the two sides' determination to further develop bilateral relations.
Erdoğan congratulated al-Sadr on leading the "Saroon" coalition, which is backed by Iraq's parliamentary elections in May.
On Sunday, June 24, Turkey saw early presidential and parliamentary elections that exceeded 88 percent, according to preliminary unofficial results.
The results showed that the candidate of the Justice and Development Party, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, 52.59 percent of the votes, while the candidate of the Republican People's Party, Muharram Enja, 30.64 percent of the vote.
