The official spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry commented on the prime minister's decision to dismiss the chairman of the popular crowd.
In a press statement, Bahram Qasimi said that his country is monitoring all statements and positions issued by the Iraqi leadership, pointing out that there are some misconceptions and that Tehran is following up what is going on in Iraq with high precision, according to Russian media.
"In the coming days we will announce Iran's position on what is going on and we will take the necessary measures."
He also expressed the hope that "the Iraqi government will take positions in the interest of the Iraqi people, express their will, continue to fight terrorism, and prevent foreign intervention."
Earlier, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced the exemption of Faleh al-Fayadh from his duties as a national security adviser, chairman of the Popular Propaganda Organization and the National Security Apparatus.
