The Iraqi Mirage Port was established with Iraqi funds in the 1980s, under an Iraqi-Saudi agreement.

The aim of its establishment was to diversify the sources of Iraqi oil exports, but what happened was that the port stopped following the war of the former regime against Kuwait.

The project included the extension of a strategic oil pipeline at the time from the Basra fields, with a capacity of 1.6 million barrels per day, and ends within Saudi territory at the port of Majaz near the port of Yanbu, Saudi Arabia on the Red Sea.

The export port was built in agreement with Saudi Arabia and Iraqi funds, according to an agreement stating that "Riyadh has no right to act without returning to Baghdad as the owner of the right to invest in it."

The Iraqi Ministry of Oil opened the port of the miracle and representatives of Western and local companies contributed to the completion of the project and started the export operation before the war broke out after the occupation of the former regime of Kuwait, but stopped exporting after the interruption of the Iraqi pipeline in 1990.

While the name of the port was changed during the last period from "port of miracles" to "port Yanbu South."

In May 2017, Reuters quoted Saudi officials as saying that the Saudi state oil company Aramco plans to launch the Red Sea port of Mirage next year after reform, bringing the total capacity of the loading and export to 15 million barrels per day .. Aramco also published details Through its official account via Twitter, this is clearly shown.

Experts in the oil sector have described Saudi Arabia's move as an attempt to put an end to Iraq's investment. Iraqi experts have pointed out that Saudi Arabia's control over the Iraqi "port of Mojaz" was the result of Saudi false claims that it was asking Iraq for money owed to it since the 1980s.

The experts said the money, which Saudi Arabia claims to be Iraq's condemnation, is the result of the war in the 1980s, led by the former regime against Saudi Arabia against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Oil experts said the money, which Saudi Arabia claims Iraq is condemned to, has not been registered in any international organization or even in the United Nations because it has no basis for its existence at all!

The only way now for the current government, according to political experts is to sue Saudi Arabia,

Since it had illegally acquired an Iraqi commercial area and false claims.
