Pearl Petroleum, a consortium led by Crescent Petroleum and Dana Gas, announced Wednesday the signing of a gas sale agreement with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) for 20 years.
"Under this agreement, the consortium will increase gas production from the Khormur field in the region by 63 percent and sell it to the government of the region by an additional 250 million standard cubic feet per day by 2021," the company said in a statement.
The statement added that "this increase is part of the expansion plans that the coalition implemented in the Kurdistan region, to enhance the production of electricity in order to meet the urgent local need."
The $ 700 million expansion project at the Khorormur plant will include the addition of two new production units at Khorormur plant, as well as the drilling of new wells to raise current production rates from 400 million cubic feet per day to 650 million cubic feet per day by 2021.
