Al-Bazzouni said in an interview for Alsumaria News that "the agreement between Iraq and Jordan has harmed the ports of Basra, and the impact of this decision is very negative on the outlets of the southern region in full because Iraq does not issue any product and most of the consumption is imported products only."
He added that "this agreement killed all hopes instead of protecting the national product," stressing that "the ports of the Kurdistan region has not been subject to this decision and the victim of this decision are the ports of the south and Basra specifically."
Al-Bazzouni explained that "the ports of Basra province have been completely suspended since the implementation of the decision."
He pointed out that "the goods that started to enter the country from the port of Trebil is not Jordanian origin and we have documents proving that most of Chinese origin covered with a Jordanian product mark to be exempt from taxes taxes."
He stressed that "the loss of Iraq as a result of this agreement is estimated at 150 billion dinars annually, and the loss rate in the ports of Basra estimated at 20% since the implementation of the resolution."
"The Basra Provincial Council filed a lawsuit to stop this unjust decision, but the lawsuit was transferred to the Administrative Court," he said, calling on the Council of Ministers to "stop this decision permissible."
Iraq and Jordan had signed a bilateral agreement between the two countries in February, while the agreement included exempting some Jordanian goods from fees.
