    Al-Maalouma / Baghdad ..
The Iraqi-Syrian joint delegation arrived in Al-Qaim district west of Anbar on Monday in preparation for opening the joint border with Syria.
Council member Karim Hilal said in a statement to Al-Maaloumeh that the Syrian ambassador in Baghdad, Mr. Sattam Al-Dandah, the head of the border outlets, the governor of Anbar, the police chief and members of both houses of parliament and the governorate have arrived at Al-Qaim.
He added that "the opening of the port will take place minutes from now after the Iraqi and Syrian sides have completed all preparations for the successful re-opening of the crossing."
Hilal expected earlier that about 1,000 vehicles loaded with goods will cross the border crossing, which has been closed for nine years because of the security situation in the surrounding areas.
