    Deputy President of the Republic Khodair al, Wednesday, that the presidency will be issued during the next two days during which a decree calling the new parliament to hold its first session, while Washington demanded more support for Iraq, particularly in the field of military and intelligence. 

    [ltr]He Alkhozai in a statement issued after a meeting with Assistant U.S. Secretary of State Brett Makourk and the U.S. ambassador in Baghdad, Stephen Beecroft, said that "the presidency is committed to the path of political and democratic political process in the country and timings constitutional," noting that "the presidency issued a decree during the next two days calls for which the new parliament to hold its first session. " [/ltr]

    [ltr] Khuzai said "the political process will not hinder the progress of terrorism and armed groups," and urged the U.S. government to "further support to Iraq, particularly in the field of military and intelligence and the necessity of activating the strategic framework agreement signed between the two countries to counter terrorism and defeat it and to maintain the security and stability of Iraq and the region." [/ltr]

    [ltr] For his part, Assistant U.S. Secretary of State Brett Makourk through the statement, that "terrorism and al-Qaeda and armed groups, a common enemy of Iraq and the United States", pointing out that his country "is committed to supporting Iraq in its war against terrorism."[/ltr]

    BAGHDAD / NINA / Vice President, Khodair al-Khuzai discussed with Assistant Secretary of State, Brett Makourk and US Ambassador in Baghdad Stephen Beecroft security and political developments in Iraq.

    A statement from the Office of the vice president quoted him as he confirmed "the commitment of the presidency in the democratic political process in the country and the constitutional timings," stressing that "the Presidency will issue a decree during the next two days calls the new parliament to hold its first session, noting that the political process will not be hindered by the terrorism and armed groups."

    He asked the U.S. government for "more support for Iraq, particularly in the military and intelligence field and the necessity of activating the framework strategic agreement signed between the two countries to counter terrorism and defeat it and to maintain the security and stability of Iraq and the region.

    For his part, Makourk confirmed that "al-Qaeda and armed groups pose a common enemy for Iraq and his country and Washington is committed to supporting Iraq in its war against terrorism."
