The Border Ports Authority announced on Tuesday that it had seized unauthorized materials that caused waste of public money in the northern Umm Qasr port in Basra Governorate.
"The Umm Qasr Al Shamali port in Basra Governorate was able to seize (3) 40-foot containers with different materials that were not authorized, causing waste of public money," the authority said in a statement.
The statement added, "The seizure was carried out by the Research and Investigation Division, our organization and outside the customs campus after checking its customs transactions and inspecting the goods. It turned out that two containers (2386) cartoon toys and gift boxes of Chinese origin and hidden candy boxes with the mentioned goods were not authorized to intend to smuggle them without paying the fees The customs duties determined according to the regulations and instructions.
He continued: "A container loaded (1171) carton with electrical and household materials inside, toys, and wallpaper of Chinese origin was also seized, and there were unauthorized materials that evaded the payment of customs duties, and these materials (9) Carton sewing machine (9) Steam iron carton and also the absence of a conformity certificate For children's play. "
