Oil prices fell today, Thursday, from their highest levels in more than a month, with the decision of OPEC + to adhere to the plan to increase production, and a jump in US fuel stocks amid a decline in demand.
OPEC+, the group that includes members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, Russia and other producers, agreed on Tuesday to raise production by another 400,000 barrels per day in February, which it has been doing every month since August.
Brent crude futures fell more than a dollar, or 1.30%, to $79.76 a barrel, and US West Texas Intermediate crude futures lost 97 cents, or 1.25%, to $76.88 a barrel.
The two contracts rose yesterday, Wednesday, to their highest levels since late November. Ended 29/N33
