Member of Parliament, Amir Al-Maamouri, confirmed, on Thursday, that the parliament’s presidency is obligated to set the voting session for the presidency for a period not exceeding next week.
Al-Maamouri said in an interview seen by / the information /, that "talks are still ongoing between the political blocs," noting that "setting a session to vote on the candidate of the President of the Republic is still early because the period of verifying the candidates' information has not yet been completed."
He added, "The two Kurdish parties are still discussing this file, but so far no outcomes have emerged from those discussions," noting that "the next session of the House of Representatives must be decided in which the vote on the position of the President of the Republic will be decided until the political process proceeds, and all papers will be presented in this session.”
Al-Maamouri explained, “What is required of the Presidency of the Parliament, after examining the papers of applicants for candidacy for the position of President of the Republic, is to determine the day of the session subject to political consensus, and in all cases, the Presidency of Parliament is obliged to set the session for a period not exceeding next week.” finished/25
