On Saturday, a member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Faeq Yazidi, said that the meeting of the co-chairman of the party, Bafel Talabani, with the leader of the Democratic Party, Massoud Barzani, during which it was emphasized that the position of the presidency had been decided within the Kurdish house.
Yazidi told Al-Information Agency, "It was agreed that the position would be settled within the Kurdish House, and that there would be a consensual candidate to be chosen between the two parties."
He added that "the candidate for the Patriotic Union is still Barham Salih, since this position is part of the National Union's share within the Kurdish component, and we do not accept what others dictate to him and impose their opinion."
