7 million citizens are at risk of not having access to water

The Minister of Environment, Jassem Al-Falahi, stated that the water policies of neighboring countries threaten 7 million Iraqis by not obtaining their water needs.
Speaking at a workshop for the United Nations Development Program in Iraq, Al-Falahi said, "The water sector has sensitive political, economic, social, health and security dimensions that require everyone to focus on cross-border water negotiations."
He noted that "seven million people in Iraq are at risk of not obtaining their water needs during the next few years."
And he indicated that "this is if the neighboring countries' water policies continue, as well as if the water pollution continues, and this sounds a bell of great danger to the national security of Iraq, especially with regard to internal migration and the increase in the phenomenon of the so-called climate refugees.
