A member of the Wisdom Movement, Ahmed Al-Issawi, announced that the names of any of the former prime ministers are not on the table and there is no opportunity for Mustafa Al-Kazemi to take over as prime minister, revealing that the coordinating framework is pressing the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan to reach an understanding with the Kurdistan Democratic Party to choose an agreed President of the Republic.
Al-Issawi said: “The names of Nuri al-Maliki, Haider al-Abadi, or any other former prime minister are not on the table, and there is no opportunity for Mustafa al-Kazemi” to take over as prime minister.
He explained that the condition of the coordination framework “is that the next prime minister be accepted by all political parties, and that these parties reassure him, and that he is internationally accepted. That is why we are careful in choosing the next prime minister until after the holiday until the political map becomes clear.”
He stressed that the next government “must be a government that completely zeros out problems, and for this we called it a transitional government, and we do not mean a transitional government in the common sense,” including problems with the Kurdistan Region such as Article 140 and the salaries of the Peshmerga, in addition to attacks from outside the borders.
Ahmed Al-Issawi expected that the Kurds would agree on one candidate for the presidency, noting that the coordination framework “presses the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan to reach an understanding with its partner, the Kurdistan Democratic Party, to choose a president of the republic who will be the president of all Iraqis.”
And he added, "The framework said to Bafel Talabani, go and reach an understanding with the Kurdistan Democratic Party, to agree on a single candidate who represents all Kurds, and we vote on him in Parliament."
Al-Issawi stressed the importance of the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s participation in the government, saying that the party has “great depth in politics,” noting that “President Masoud Barzani’s conditions for participation in the government such as partnership, balance and pluralism, we have been urging from the beginning, as no political bloc can be excluded.” under the Iraqi constitution.
He concluded that the next government must be a strong government agreed internally between the Kurds, Sunnis and Shiites, in order to come up with solutions to all the problems facing the country, noting that “all parties to the coordination framework wish that all influential parties in the government participate, as it gives it greater legitimacy and strength to be A real service government.”
